Did you know? The Milky Way came from Greek mythology

A single Greek myth has left a lasting mark on names in science. The Greeks referred to our local star system as the “Milky Circle” (Γαλαξίας Κύκλος, or “Galaxias Kyklos”). Later on, the Romans adopted much of Greek astronomy and translated the concept into Latin as Via Lactea. Centuries later, this evolved into the English term still use today: the Milky Way.

Anastasia leads the Greek language program and cultural training seminars at Berlitz Athens, helping foreigners integrate smoothly, confidently, and authentically into life in Greece.
