Did you know? Thessaloniki’s Olympou Street Named Among Time Out’s 10 Coolest Streets Worldwide

Thessaloniki is celebrating global recognition after its Olympou Street was included in Time Out’s annual list of the Coolest Streets in the World for 2025. The street was ranked among the top 10 globally, standing alongside Rio de Janeiro, Osaka, and Montreal.
Key highlights of Olympou Street:
History Meets Hipster: The area is praised for its "stunning clash of Roman ruins, UNESCO sites, and modern architecture," making it a unique hub for exploration.
Cultural Blend: In the span of a few steps, visitors can move from the excavated ruins of a Byzantine palace to a modern bar housed inside a converted old mansion.
Local Vibe: The street is packed with "student energy" and maintains an authentic local rhythm. Time Out suggests exploring the ancient Roman Forum at dusk and then following the music to a local rebetadiko for a night of dancing and ouzo.

The Hellenic Revenue Agency (AADE) in Greece will fully implement a new Property Information Registration Platform starting this month. This mandatory system requires all individuals and legal entities, including overseas buyers, to declare and update their real estate holdings.
The goal is to improve tax transparency and property management efficiency by instantly cross-referencing tax records (E9) with the National Cadastral Register (Ktimatologio). This is also applicable to tenants, who must verify rental details, and will monitor short-term rental platforms like Airbnb.
Launch Date: The new Property Information Registration Platform will be formally launched in November 2025.
Mandatory Registration: All individuals and legal entities, including overseas property buyers and investors, must comprehensively declare their real estate holdings.
Purpose: The system aims to enhance tax transparency and property management efficiency by digitally linking and comparing tax records with property registration data.
Data Integration: The platform will integrate data from the tax system (E9) and the National Cadastral Register (Ktimatologio).
"One Property, One File": Each property must have a fully digitized record including its type, floor area, occupancy status (rented, vacant, etc.), and corresponding identification numbers (ATAK and KAEK).
Automated Cross-Check: The government will automatically cross-reference E9 tax records with the Land Registry data. Unregistered properties may be flagged for tax evasion and incur penalties for unpaid taxes (ENFIA).
Rental Monitoring: The system will synchronize with landlords' tax returns (E2) and import usage data from short-term rental platforms (like Airbnb) to effectively combat illegal letting and tax evasion.
Action for Owners: Overseas investors and property owners are strongly advised to engage local tax solicitors or accountants to ensure all property information is accurately and promptly registered and updated to avoid penalties. 👉Need help? Contact us by submitting a question or a request here.
